At Nespresso Professional, we know that better coffee leads to better business, but it is our people who truly drive our success.
To celebrate this year, we sat down with three of our team members to discuss what it means to be a powerful woman in business, what fuels their professional journey, and how we can all work together to uplift and support colleagues in the workplace.
Below, Emma, Jenna, and Donna share their insights on resilience, empathy, and the importance of being heard.
Emma Ormerod, Business Development Manager
What makes women powerful in business?
“I believe we have a bucket load of empathy, we are used to being adaptable, more often than not having to juggle many plates, resilient, and have great communication skills.”
What do you think has been the biggest driver of your success in sales?
“Having a purpose and wanting to be a great role model for my teenage daughter. ‘The dream you dream will one day be the dream you do!’”
How can we support and uplift other women in the workplace?
“Hear them! If we/women are listened to, I believe we perform better. If we have the tools to ‘offload’ and ‘share life’ outside work, we can focus on performing better results and increasing our emotional intelligence and resilience.”
Jenna Caves, HORECA Business Development Manager
What makes women powerful in business?
“I think what makes women powerful in business is our ability to balance empathy with resilience. We build strong relationships, read the room well, and lead with emotional intelligence. The mix of empathy and ambition is a real strength in any industry, especially sales.”
What do you think has been the biggest driver of your success in sales?
“I’m naturally competitive and I’m always trying to raise the bar year on year. Even moments of self-doubt have pushed me to prepare better, work harder, and deliver stronger results. My drive to keep improving has been a huge part of my success in sales.”
How can we support and uplift other women in the workplace?
“For me, it starts with building real relationships where we can be honest about the harder days, reassure each other when confidence dips, and genuinely celebrate each other’s wins. Having that mutual support makes a huge difference.”
Donna Douglas, Business Development Manager
What makes women powerful in business?
“Women’s power in business comes from a mix of capability and mindset. Also, being empathetic, self-aware, and being resilient under pressure.”
What do you think has been the biggest driver in your success in sales?
“Genuine belief in the value of the product and listening to customer needs.”
How can we support and uplift other women in the workplace?
“By working as a team and celebrating each other’s teams and success.”
